What products do I use for my treatments?
For my massages I mostly use my own massage wax. It’s made with beeswax, shea butter and a variety of different carrier oils depending on the properties I would like to utilise from them. For example a little bit of Olive Oil (olea europea) is excellent for muscular aches and pains as it has antinflamatory properties, Evening Primrose Oil (oenothera biennis) is rich in linoleic acid and gamma-linoleic acids which can help improve many skin conditions such as eczema, dry skin and psoriasis and Grapseed Oil (vitis vinifera) is easily absorbed by the skin and contains polyphenols which have an antioxidant effect.
I swapped to massage wax after I completed my Lomi Lomi course, we used Annie’s Bee Natural Wax handmade by Annie, a lady in Brighton (www.anniesmassagewax.com) during the course. It smelt lovely and lemony and had such a nice texture to work with. It had good friction but also a nice glide, it was totally different to using oil and it was awesome for flowing Lomi moves where movement and pressure are key. It got my creative and aromatherapy side buzzing and I decided to make my own. It took a little while to get the ratio correct, some setting too hard and some not setting enough, some were a little too sticky and some a little too oily but I think I’ve cracked it now :) and am currently working on a range of massage waxes with my own essential oil blends so... watch this space!
For aromatherapy massage, I have a large selection of carrier and essential oils that we will choose depending on your skin type and the variety of symptoms that they can help with, for example; pms, stress, insomnia, muscular aches, joint pain, lowered immunity, headaches, IBS, water retention and arthritis.
When you have a luxury aromatherapy facial I have a whole selection of NYR products to use, dependant on your skin. I love these products as they are full of essential oils and natural ingredients and my clients love them too!
